"Sa Caleta" literally means "the little cove" in Catalan. It sits right next to Lloret's main beach, at the start of the coastal path leading to Tossa de Mar.
History & origins
It's a fishing cove, with a 5% slope and coarse golden sand; the shallow seabed remains visually appealing. Small fishing boats are still pulled up on the shore. It's also a favoured spot for the introductory dives run by nearby diving centres.
Heritage & architecture
The path passes beneath the Castell d'en Plaja, an iconic image of Lloret de Mar (built in 1940 by architect Isidor Bosch for industrialist Narcís Plaja, in neo-medieval style, now a private residence closed to the public). Sa Caleta itself has no identified monument of its own; its heritage interest lies in its position, at the foot of the castle and at the start of the coastal path.

Culture & living traditions
Unlike Canyelles, whose nautical identity today is residential and leisure-boating, Sa Caleta retains a presence of small fishing boats, giving it a more artisanal feel. Its role as the gateway to the Camí de Ronda makes it a place passed through more than visited for its own sake.
