About ten kilometres from central Valencia, the Albufera Natural Park combines a large freshwater lake, rice paddies and a belt of wooded dunes separating the lake from the sea.

The lake is traditionally visited by boat, setting off from villages such as El Palmar. The surrounding rice paddies are directly tied to the gastronomic identity of the Valencia region.
Food
The Albufera is considered the birthplace of traditional paella, one of the five areas recommended by the tourist office for tasting an authentic version.

A full day, from Valencia and back, taking in a nature reserve, a fishing village and sunset over the lagoon.
